KIWAKA / Kinkazan Fabric Series Clutch bag

Created by Ms. Toshimi Kanda, Colussio Kanda is a bag and jewelry brand. The bags are made using leather from Himeji (Japan) and renowned Kinkazan-ori fabric from Wakayama.

Ms. Toshimi Kanda developed the original design of the Jewel Zip Top TM. The zip is finished in a refined gold color to perfectly compliment the gorgeous fabric.

Kinkazan Fabric Series
Wakayama Prefecture is located in the south of Osaka Prefecture. It was called "Kishu" in the old days. It is known for the village Koyasan, registered as a World Heritage Site, the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route, and the Nachi Falls, a re-known place for both Buddhism and Shintoism.

It is an area rich in nature with mountains, rivers, and the sea. Ms. Toshimi Kanda named her first brand name "KIWAKA" from this identity "Kishu" and "Wakayama", using renowned Kinkazan-ori fabric from Wakayama to create beautiful and unique bags.

About the Jewel Zip Top Design iTOP™
In 2015, Ms. Toshimi Kanda launched her business with the idea of offering a high-quality Japanese brand, with designs perpetuating a new sense of luxury that has not yet been seen. She decided to focus on the part of the bag often seen as secondary, the "zipper".

There are more than 100 billion zippers produced annually in the world, and despite being used in various fashion items, zippers have received little attention in terms of design, other than their convenient functionality.

Ms. Toshimi Kanda aimed to create a high-class bag for which the zipper is elegant and has the "main role", even though it is optimal in its function of opening and closing the bag.

In 2016, she formed a team with young craftsmen to design this new type of zipper top. They developed a zipper that can open and close using their own patented technology. The zipper top was named "iTOP™".

At the end of 2016, she released her first brand "KIWAKA" using the iTOP technology. In the future, Ms. Toshimi Kanda would like to spread this design from Japan to the world by attaching “iTOP™” to various items
