Color

Tobikanna is a geometric design used to decorate pottery. It is a chatter-like design produced by a metal tool springing against a leather-hard slip-covered vessel.
The items are glazed with a Seiji glaze. For generations, Soryu-Gama has developed and used its own Seiji glaze.

Tobikanna potteries can be put in the dishwasher and in the microwave.

Mrs. Madoka Wakunami and Mr. Soryu Wakunami are the owners of Soryu-gama, a small pottery shop, and gallery near Kiyomizu-dera.

Mrs. Wakunami is the 14th generation of Koishiwara Pottery tradition, from Fukuoka. Mr. Wakunami is the 4th generation of Kyo-yaki pottery tradition, from Kyoto. Soryu-gama potteries mix those two artisans’ and the pottery traditions of Kyoto & Fukuoka. Kyo-yaki Pottery and Koishiwara Pottery blend to present to the world, a new type of pottery.
